A little bit about myself…

Hi, I’m Amber Quisenberry, Owner, Baker, and Cake Designer behind Quiz Cakes.

I’ve been flinging buttercream for over 14 years. What started as a childhood hobby quickly grew into a love for baking for family holidays and special moments. It wasn’t until I took a professional baking course in college on a whim that everything clicked. I was hooked. I attended Le Cordon Bleu in Scottsdale, Arizona, where I earned my degree in Patisserie and Baking in 2012.

After graduating, I worked in a large commercial bakery in Phoenix before taking a leap of faith and moving to Austin with my “everything that is Texas” husband. I spent time in a trendy downtown cupcake shop, but truly found my stride at a French pastry shop, La Patisserie. Over six years, I refined my skills as a baker and cake decorator, surrounded by an incredibly talented team I’m proud to call my bakery family.

When COVID shifted everything, I made the difficult decision to stay home with my toddler, but that season opened the door to something new. It gave me the time and creative freedom to experiment, push boundaries, and rediscover why I fell in love with baking in the first place. That path led me to collaborate with local photographer Jessica Doffing, creating custom smash cakes for her one-year cake smash sessions. Seeing my work become part of such beautifully styled, meaningful moments sparked something bigger, and Quiz Cakes was born.

Today, I specialize in creating elevated, custom cakes and desserts that are as stunning as they are delicious. I’m constantly inspired by my clients’ visions and love bringing ideas to life, whether it’s an intimate celebration or a show-stopping event.
